My favourite saying. Quality and Cheap cannot go together in one sentence.
Things might look the goods, but the proof is in the pudding. This is particularly true with parts and accessories for the 4wd market. Think Poo Systems, and 5wd Slooperstore. Their stuff is cheap chinese junk, in my opinion, and not worth wasting money on.I have a small Honda generator.
Its a 2 stroke 350/250 watt unit. Bought new about 15 years ago, it often sits for years between used. It has served us without complaint and almost without issue for that time.
Open civil war sse. Even 150 years later, photographers struggle to achieve similar resolution even with large digital cameras. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox, and the sheer number of soldiers who flocked to Washington provided access — and photographic opportunities — not previously available to northern photographers. These photographs were exposed on glass plates, generally 40 square inches or more.
The only issue, my negligence. The air filter element disintegrated one time. It is an oiled foam filter. This little genny runs 100/1 fuel.
It has had very poor fuel shoved through it, anything up to 25/1 or worse. A major maintenance overhaul recently saw the muffler pulled, and set on fire with an oxy set, to burn out all the caked up oil residue, then reinstalled. Runs as good as ever.I do have 2 other generators. A 2.5 kva Black Ridge non inverter genny. This ran a mates fridges for a week or so after cyclone Marcia.
No issues, but heavy, noisy, and not for sensitive electronics. A 1 kva Engel modified sine wave genny sits at home, without much use at all.I keep these at home in the event of extended power outages. Through work I've had a lot of Honda powered items, and a lot of Chonda (Chinese Honda Copy) powered items. These are things like generators, pumps, compressors, etc.The Honda motors are always great, I doubt anyone will find much bad to say about them. The Chonda motors are often surprising. You kind of expect them to be rubbish, and sometimes they are, but often they're not. They show up in brand name products as well.
If it's made by a tool company that paints things blue or yellow then it's probably got a chonda motor. The things that let them down are often quite minor, like the pull start, the ignition switch, and the wiring. Spend a few minutes changing them and it's all good again. Being left in the sun certainly does them more harm than a honda.Generators wise I can't say I've noticed an appreciable difference in lifespan between a nice quality 'Dunlite' or similar generator and the ones that are coupled to the chinese motors.

Well I did it I purchased a cheap Aldi Generator which is completely against my grain.Three Aldi’s in 25minutes, at the first one at 0830hrs (opening time) twenty people queued up. Door opens four generators available first person takes two and the next two people take one each so off to the next store. All gone at the next store. Next store all gone but just by chance an Aldi worker walked past and I asked if they had any generators and he said there is one on a trolley at the storage area entrance. Just got it as there was another person looking but I was the one that asked first.Picked up some 4 stroke oil and fuel and added then pulled the start string once and then on the second pull it burst into life. Plugged in two 500watt flood lights hardly bothered the thing. It’s not that quiet in my book but it will be up in the garage next to the neighbours place and we are down below, that should be OK shouldn’t it?JR.
