The Realtek audio driver on the MSI website is from May 2018 while the audio driver on Realtek's website is from July 2017. The front panel audio is noisy on my Antec 900. This is a known issue and there doesn't seem to be a fix for it. I would prefer to plug headphones into the audio output from the Realtek.

Vista is very finicky when it comes to headsets and microphones.Here is what you can do. Go to your computer manufacturer, or motherboard maker if you built this computer, and select their 'Support and Drivers'. Input your system/board and download the latest Realtek HD Drivers they have. Save these to your desktop. When the download finishes, right-click the executable and choose 'Run as administrator'. Install the drivers and reboot; even if it doesn't prompt you to.Next, go to your headset maker's website and get the latest, greatest drivers for it. Once again, save to your desktop, right-click and choose 'Run as administrator'.

Proceed with the installation, reboot if prompted.Now, go to your control panel and choose the 'Sound' icon.Select, or Highlight 'Speakers' and choose 'Properties'Then Click the Levels TabOn here make sure that the 'Microphone' is MUTED. So i recently bought a new Razer Kraken Pro v2 Headset after my Razer Kraken Chroma broke. This was my first time encountering a headset that didn't use a USB, and instead used 2 jacks. I plugged in the jacks in the designated plugs and Realtek HD Audio Manager popped up asking what type of device this is. It was here that I started having issues. I would click that my Headset was in fact 'Headphones' instead of 'Front speaker out' and then I would click the little headphone icon. WITHOUT FAIL every single time, it will set the type of headphones I have as speakers which makes the noise in the headphones static-like and hard to hear.

The Microphone seems to be working perfectly, but the audio will not change from speakers and stop being static-y. I could be wrong in assuming that my headphones aren't supposed to be set on 'speakers' but it would explain why the audio is how it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.EDIT: So it turns out the way to fix this problem (for me at least) was to uninstall Realtek HD Audio Manager completely and then I restarted my computer and the headphones went from 'speakers' to 'headphones'. It should be separate from the Realtek drivers themselves.Seems like it applies some short of EQ profile on them depending on what type of device they are, also, considering that it says 'front speakers', make sure that you're connecting them to the side speaker output or to the green single output. I guess the mobo has 5.1 or 7.1 support and you may be plugging them to the front speakers instead of side ones. Alright, then on top you have the usual speaker/headset (green) and microphone (purple).

That should be working just fine, dunno what's the issue with realtek.In the back, what you have there is 5.1 (in case you're gonna have a set of 5 speakers, so it has three for each pair of speakers and blue for microphone).In the back, you plug the microphone in the blue one, and then you plug the headset's speakers (green) either in the green (front speakers) or the black (side speakers). Try that and see if it won't distort the sound, otherwise, either stick with the top ports or go with a headset-to-USB adapter.
