Hey man,Go get some fine steelwool and the kind of lube you use on your mountainbike chain. Very very fine steelwool. Take the stands appart where possible and softly remove the rust. No hard scrubbing if softly polishing does the trick. When all the rust is gone, clean the residue away with a wet cloth. Dry everything thoroughly and afterwards rub everything down with the silicone lube and a clean, dry cloth.
The lube isn't greasy, keeps your stands from rusting again after a year or so, and gives a nice shine to your chromes.Works fast and great. So, I just got ripped off.
