How To Get More Hair Colors Sims 4

The reason I ask is that when I download a hairstyle say for an adult, I also get other hairstyles for the other ages that I don't want. I've tried deleting the ones I don't want, but it erases the whole set. It seems like a stupid waste of space to me.Uhmmm.

I'm not sure how it works with new meshes, but I know in creating hairstyles from Maxis meshes, you're given the option to make matching hairstyles for all other ages. For instance, if I create hot pink hair for an adult, I'd probably want to include in the same package file the matching hair for toddler, child, teen, and elder as well.

From what I could tell in creating the one hairstyle I did from a Maxis mesh, at least in that style, the textures for child, teen, adult, and elder are all the same, and it was incredibly easy to just copy-paste from one to another to make it so the hairstyle is available for all ages. Toddler hair is a bit different, but I did some minor editing to that so it'd work for it as well. When I put it all together in a.package file, all the ages are in that same file, so if I were to delete one in the game, it deletes them all.I'm not sure how it works in aging, whether if a child aging to teen will keep the hair from the same.package, if available, or if they randomly get hair of the same color and roughly the same style, or what. I know I've noticed in some sim kids I've had, the daughters end up with the exact same hair as the mothers as they grow older (a custom long, straight, dark reddish brown style on a new mesh), and when I took out all my custom content (to check about some errors I was having) the mothers and daughters reverted to a very similar long, straight Maxis mesh with black hair. Either it's random and has just followed an interesting pattern with me, or there's some further coding that tells it whether it's long hair, a ponytail, etc. And sims age accordingly. I really don't have enough technical knowledge of it to give any better answer than that, but I think all the styles being in the same.package file is your problem in deleting.

The reason I ask is that when I download a hairstyle say for an adult, I also get other hairstyles for the other ages that I don't want. I've tried deleting the ones I don't want, but it erases the whole set. It seems like a stupid waste of space to me.I have the exact same question.

I download a custum adult hair that I love - say long black- and then when I skim through the ages in the game in 'create-a-sim', the child stage has curly red hair or worse that one with the two buns on top that I just hate:smash: I know I could just change it in the game, but I'm sure that there must be another way.Probably with SimPe. But I'm a complete novice with SimPe.

I do know that with the customs they are in the same package, as some one suggested above, because as I said, skimming through the ages you always get the same style in the age group, and if you delete the style in the adult age, then the corresponding one is deleted in teen, child, toddler. Etc.Thanks for reading and any help you can give.Konnica. That's not possible. Each hair package has sets of data for each age. All sets of data must be present for a working hair package. That's just the way Maxis made it.

Also, there's no way to make a hairstyle fit all ages unless you edit the mesh. And most of the time, you can't use the edited mesh and just scale it down, b/c there's the positions, shapes, and sometimes animations to worry about.

So you have to start from a Maxis hair for each stage. Lotsa work to mesh hair. I totally gave it up after the animation on my hairstyle went haywire. This tutorial is by faeriegurlModerators: Since we can't post threads in the tutorials section I wasn't sure where to put this. If this is the wrong forum, please either move it or let me know so I can move it. Thanks!I know that there is a batch converter for this, but I have gotten a ton of pms with questions about how to change an individual item of clothing from adult to young adult or teen, child to toddler, adult to elder, etc.So, I decided rather than answering the same question over and over, I would post a thread that covers this topic. So anyway, here we go:First of all, you have to have SimPE.

If you don't download it here:Okay what you do is this:1. Open Body Shop and click Create Parts.2. Choose the adult clothing you want to convert to young adult or teen. (Since teen bodies are shaped differently you may need to alter the alpha and bmp also)3. Click Export.4.

Name your new.package something you will remember. As an example, when I convert clothes I usually start the names with YA (for young adult), AF (for adult female), TF (for teen female), etc. So I can find them easily.5. Click Import To Game without changing anything.6. Now open the folder: My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Saved Sims7. Click Search (or Find depending on which version of Windows you are using).8. Click for All files and folders, and then type in part of your file name that you chose.9.

When you find the package click on it.10. Will open.11.

OK, here's the scoop. Each hairstyle that maxis created is an entire package that contains a set of styles for each age, toddler to elder.

When a creator modifies only one hairstyle in Body Shop, whether it's a color, or a change to the alpha, and you download it, you get the changed hairstyle for that age, and the Maxis originals for all the others. If a mesher creates a new style, he or she has to start with an existing Maxis mesh - which contains all agesexceptI. Thanks, Faylen, thank you very much. You have basically answered my problem, and I am glad that Labyrinthia has asked the question too. XD I guess I understand most of what you have said, but I am not sure if all my questions were answered because I am getting confused at the latter part. Please excuse me, for English is not my mother tongue.Okay, here's my question.

Let me make up an example:I have 4 hair styles (each with different mesh) I like for each age. Eg.Mesh A - Toddler - with 2 ponytails;Mesh B - Child - shoulder length, cropped bangs;Mesh C - Teen hair - long, straight ponytail;Mesh D - Adult hair - long, straight hair to waist. For example, in an extreme case, these 4 meshes (A-D) are all individual custom hairs, and the creators only modify the hairstyle of that particular age. Look, every single new thing created starts off as a Maxis object, whether it's a recolor or a mesh. Maxis hair files are not separated by age - every single style is a file that consists of texture.bmp and texture.alpha files for each age. You can't combine different styles without taking the original from the exact same file and using and the mesh tool and MilkShape to change it.

For obvious reasons.2. Nagash (he's like one step away from godhood. Warhammer kalgalanos the black. Always lord Kroak.

Meshes aren't a copy-and-paste proposition. If you do a mesh for only one age group within a style package, the other ages will show up as the maxis originals of the same style you changed before you changed it. Okay, thanks Now I understand the structure of a hair mesh file a little bit better:DOkay, just a little bit more question in order for me to understand my situation better. I am not a modder and have not looked into the files, so i am still a bit confused.1) when you say, 'you really don't get duplicates.

You haven't changed the other age groups, so it doesn't add another identical file.' What do you mean by 'another identical file'? Is it only applicable when someone bases his/her new modified hair on a custom hair (eg. Floor length blond female adult hair), that someone only changes the teens hair without modifying the adult hair, that someone will not get another identical (floor length blond female adult hair) in adult hair selection list? If you do a mesh for only one age group within a style package, the other ages will show up as the maxis originals of the same style you changed before you changed it.so, these maxis originals of the same style of same color will show up in custom hair list as custom hair, rite? Because it's maxis original, so i will still get identical maxis original in the custom list, rite?Sorry, my situation is that, I get 4 identical maxis original adult hairs (long straight black hair with no bangs) in a row in custom hair list for one custom hair style of other age. There are times I get more sets of 4 of that identical maxis original adult hair in custom list for other ages.

If that creator did not change the adult stage, and these 4 maxis original are identical, why am I still getting them?Sorry, seems like i am repeting myself. I just wanna know if it's normal or just that something is wrong with my computer/game that the hair is not showing up right. If it's normal, i will take it as it is.
